Synopsis
En l’an 1327, dans une abbaye bénédictine, des moines disparaissent. Un franciscain, Guillaume de Baskerville, mène l’enquête, aidé du jeune novice Adso von Melk. C’est l’époque où l’Église, en pleine crise, se voit disputer son pouvoir spirituel et temporel. C’est aussi l’apogée de l’Inquisition.
