Synopsis
Mars 1918 : pendant quatre jours, un petit groupe de soldats britanniques envoyés dans les tranchées attend d'être bombardé, anticipant une mort certaine. Le lieutenant Raleigh, âgé de 18 ans, rejoint la compagnie commandée par son ami d'enfance, le capitaine Stanhope, 20 ans, mais ce dernier est devenu un homme sombre, dévoré par l'alcool et l'angoisse...
